Why Families Choose Janzen & Chwa Orthodontics
Our Orthodontic Difference in Every Smile
Janzen & Chwa Orthodontics is a family-run, single-location orthodontic practice in Northbrook, Illinois. Two orthodontic specialists, Drs. Kyint and Evan Chwa, treat every case here from diagnosis through retention. Consultations are complimentary, no dentist referral is required, and every treatment plan comes with a written estimate before anything begins.
There is no shortage of orthodontists in the north suburbs, and most of them are competent. So rather than tell you we are the best, here is what is actually different about this practice, stated in a way you can verify.
Two Specialists, One Practice, Every Visit
Both of our doctors hold specialty certificates in orthodontics, and both of them are here. That sounds obvious until you compare it with the alternatives. A multi-location group can mean a different face at each appointment. A single-doctor practice means one opinion and one appointment book. Here, Dr. Kyint Chwa and Dr. Evan Chwa practice side by side, discuss difficult cases with each other, and both know your treatment plan. The doctor who diagnoses your case is the doctor who treats it.
Dr. Kyint Chwa has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the orthodontic departments at Northwestern University Dental School and at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. Dr. Evan Chwa is a published co-author on clear aligner research, including a study of what to do when an aligner case stops tracking to plan. Neither of those is a marketing line. Both are checkable.
Straight Answers About Money
We put the numbers in front of you before treatment starts, not after.
At the complimentary consultation you get a written estimate covering the whole treatment, with the monthly payment already calculated. Payment plans are interest free and arranged in house, with no outside lender. We verify your dental insurance benefit up front and tell you what it actually pays in dollars. FSA and HSA funds are accepted.
If a case can be treated a less expensive way, we will tell you that too. Our guide to what braces cost and our payment plans page set out the whole picture.
Care That Fits Around Real Life
Treatment Chosen for the Case, Not for the Practice
The Same Faces at the Front Desk
Low staff turnover is an unglamorous thing to advertise and it makes a real difference to patients. Our office manager, front desk coordinators and clinical assistants are the same people visit after visit, which means the person who checks you in knows your name, your insurance situation and which of your children has the exam next week.
It also means questions get answered without being passed along. If you call about a payment schedule or a rescheduled appointment, you will speak to someone who already knows the file. Meet the team.
We Will Tell You When You Do Not Need Us
A great many children who come in at seven or eight need nothing yet. Those patients go into our monitoring program, we check the teeth every six to eight months as they come in, and there is no fee for any of it. We would rather start treatment at the right moment than at the moment you happened to call.
The same applies to adults. If a bite is functioning well and the concern is minor, we will say so.
